bar fighting birds

(Alfred Hitchcock's Bar Fighting Birds - Digital)

Here's my piece for the Alternate Ending show at Bottleneck Gallery, curated by Silver Screen Society. This is my alternate ending to Hitchcock's "The Birds." I can't tell you how much fun it was to draw little hats and ponchos on those hostile birds.

Bottleneck Gallery is located in Brooklyn, NY, and if you're in the area please stop by and check out the show for me! The show runs from December 14th - January 4th 2013. You can also view the show on the gallery's website.

Also, I will have additional prints of this piece available to purchase.

bubble pirates golden book

I'm so happy to share the cover for the Little Golden Book I'm currently illustrating! (Random House is in charge of the title in case you're wondering why it's missing) This will be the third Golden Book I've illustrated for Nickelodeon's Bubble Guppies. These have been so much fun to work on! This one is titled "Bubble Pirates" and is now available for pre-order on amazon.com.

As always, big thanks to Random House and the awesome creatives at Nickelodeon for the opportunity to work on these!

penny lane

(Penny Lane, Gouache)

Here's my painting for "All Together Now: A Tribute to the Beatles" at Gallery Nucleus. I was so thrilled when I was asked to participate. I didn't have much time to work on this piece, but since I am a HUGE Beatles fan, I squeezed in some painting time. I wish I had a better image, but this is the photo I took at the opening of the show.

I knew I didn't want to illustrate just the band members- though that would have been totally cool. I had a few songs in mind that inspired all kinds of visuals. I decided on "Penny Lane" because the song feels like something that could be out of a children's book.

I attended the opening of the show, and it was one of the best openings I've ever been to. I think that had a lot to do with the fact that I'm a big fan, and the gallery was filled with fans and live music by a Beatles tribute band. The atmosphere was just so perfect and fun. It was also pretty cool that Sir Ian McKellen was also in attendance!

The show runs from July 7th - July 29th at Gallery Nucleus. You can also view all the amazing artwork online here, though it's much better to see in person if you're in the area!

fantasia

(Fantasia, digital)

Here's my contribution for the always awesome silverscreensociety.com. Working on this was so much fun, mostly because it didn't have to deal with anything cute! Be sure to check out all the other wonderful Fantasia pieces!

matilda

Here's my contribution to The Book Show! This was a fun piece to work on. It's my tribute to Roald Dahl's Matilda. Such a great book, and filled with darling illustrations by Quentin Blake. It was great to work on a piece that involves a character who loves books, for a show about books.

The exhibition will be held at Daniel Maghen Gallery in Paris, France. The show runs from July 3 - July 28th. I wish I could attend the opening to this one! Special thanks to my friend Seb Mesnard for having me in this amazing show!

the doctor is in!

The second Little Golden Book I worked on for Nickelodeon's Bubble Guppies is available for pre-order! It was a pleasure working on both books, and this one will be released in August.

Got several projects going on right now, including some new illustrations. Thinking about changing up my style a bit for a few of those projects, just for fun.

a little golden book

I'm so excited to announce my first Little Golden Book, It's Time for Bubble Puppy! was recently released! I've always wanted illustrate a Little Golden Book, and I'm so happy Nickelodeon and Random House offered me this wonderful opportunity. I was familiar with the show before working on the book, and it was a pleasure to illustrate such appealing and charming characters.

Here's a snippet of what's written on the back cover. It pretty much sums up why I loved working on this:

"Children have loved Little Golden Books for over 60 years. They have written their names inside each front cover and delighted in the colorful pictures and wonderful stories. Thanks to the happy hours spent with such books as The Poky Little Puppy, many children have developed a lifelong love of reading."

I'm also celebrating the release of this book with a giveaway! Just leave a comment on this post (along with your name and email by February 14th, 2012), I will draw a name, announce the winner, and mail out one signed copy of the book. A free book for you, and a fun thing for me to do. Win, win!
